FRAMING METHODOLOGY
All aspects of producing the videos for the Monthly Prompt are design decisions; the calibrated relationship between frame composition and artifact tectonics makes them open-ended, and their cropped nature allows them to be interchangeable with one another. This establishes the video editing process as an integral part of the student’s design workflow. Shifting image and sound between each loop can imply different relationships beyond the edge of the frame.
EDITING METHODOLOGY
As a working guideline, the first video within the first refrain of PERCEPTION will contain a set of three distinct frames. These frames are repeated, changing in content with each loop.
The second video compounds upon the first, the second refrain of MATTER is introduced, and the students must redesign the artifacts from their first video with this new topic and time structure in mind.
The third video compounds upon the second, the third refrain of ENVIRONMENT is introduced, and again the students redesign the artifacts from their second video.
